Spencer Barnes
I grew up in Colorado and currently reside in Phoenix for school, where I am pursuing a degree in sports journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, with an expected graduation year of 2026. My aspiration is to become a traveling team or player photographer for the NBA.
Currently, I am a member of the Cronkite News Phoenix Sports Bureau, a cutting-edge, multiplatform newsroom that covers college and professional sports, providing content for various professional media outlets and Arizona PBS's news division.
Cronkite News is a comprehensive news organization reporting on news, business, and sports across Arizona, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. My coverage includes teams such as the Phoenix Suns, Colorado Rockies, ASU football, basketball, and more.
Additionally, I contribute to Blaze Radio Sports and the Walter Cronkite Sports Network, where I have had the opportunity to photograph ASU basketball and football games, among other events.
I also engage in freelance photography for high school football and basketball teams in the Phoenix area. In 2023, I served as a published sports beat writer for AZPreps365, and in 2022 I was a paid intern at the Gunnison Country Times.
